About Us

The U.S. Seafood Policy Council (USSPC) is a public-private partnership that promotes and supports a strong American seafood industry. The Council collaborates with federal, state, tribal, multilateral, and industry partners to advance policies that enhance the sustainability, resilience, and profitability of America’s domestic seafood industry.

USSPC invests in and advances projects that:

  • Foster sustainable fishing practices and aquaculture development.

  • Expand market access for U.S.-sourced seafood domestically and internationally.

  • Support coastal infrastructure improvements, including ports and processing facilities.

  • Advance workforce development and training initiatives for the seafood and maritime industries.

  • Protect and manage marine ecosystems to ensure long-term resource availability.

USSPC’s mission is to strengthen the U.S. seafood supply chain, support vibrant coastal communities, and contribute to national food security.

The Council’s efforts directly benefit the millions of Americans involved in the seafood economy, from fishers and aquaculturists to distributors and consumers.

By championing innovation and collaboration, USSPC is dedicated to preserving America’s rich maritime heritage while positioning the seafood industry for a sustainable future.
