(Washington, D.C.) – The U.S. Seafood Policy Council (USSPC) applauds the National Science and Technology Council's Subcommittee on Aquaculture for releasing the Strategic Plan for Aquaculture Economic Development, the first new national plan for aquaculture since 1983.

This comprehensive framework is a significant milestone toward advancing the U.S. aquaculture sector, promoting economic growth, sustainability, and global competitiveness. We extend our deepest gratitude to the federal and state agencies, Tribes and Indigenous communities, universities, and aquaculture and seafood industry stakeholders whose collaborative efforts were instrumental in developing this plan.

We are committed to supporting the implementation of this strategic plan in the coming years. This plan will bolster the domestic aquaculture industry, contributing to food security, job creation, and economic resilience for America's seafood industry.
